about

Stasis is a state of perfect balance, a kind of stability that denies the possibility of change. Bill Gilliam, Glen Hall, and Joe Sorbara are a trio of improvisers who prefer uncertainty and the possibility of transformation to anything like perfection or stability. They work to counter stasis, to foster change, to create a music in which their individual voices can be bent by, refracted through the voices of their co-conspirators.

The music you hear here is a spontaneously composed exploration of gestures and sonorities connected to new chamber music, free jazz, sound art, experimental, and other creative music traditions. Bill Gilliam (piano), Glen Hall (woodwinds, electroacoustics) and Joe Sorbara (drums, percussion) draw on a wide variety of traditional and extended techniques and employ both conventional and bent approaches to melodicism, groove, and chromatic harmony.
